Summary/Abstract: The main objective of the article is to assess the quality of credit portfolios of family-owned companies, taking into account the structure of those companies, in selected cooperative banks according to the data from the third quarter of 2014. The analysis was based on primary data which were provided by two cooperative banks. A credit portfolio offered to family businesses is better than the entire portfolio of economic credits, however, in recent years, its quality which depends on the age of a business entity, succession and the relation between the number of family members engaged in running the company and the total number of employees, has been deteriorating regularly.
