Summary/Abstract: The article deals with functional and semantic features of the components of an etymological nest with the root год- (year-) in proverbs and sayings. Attention is drawn to the specific perception of time in the Russian linguistic worldview. The role of the studied words in the creation of means of expression is shown. The author concludes that the use of etymologically related lexemes is a powerful means of expression.
