Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the speech act of motivation in the Russian and Persian languages. The author points out that impositiveness is typical of the communicative behavior of the Russians and the Iranians and is expressed in the mentioned languages by numerous verb forms of the imperative mood. The author concludes that Russian imperative utterances differ from similar structures in the Persian language and are characterized by a higher level of categoricalness typical of certain communicative situations.
