Summary/Abstract: The numerous surviving late baroque organs in Lithuania co-me from the period of the late 18 – early 19 c. Most of them were made by organ-builders who lived in Vilnius and by Lithuanian masters related to them. However, in the Lithuanian late baroque organ-building art there were also many masters from other countries. A numerous group of masters lived and worked in Vilnius the 2nd half of the 18 c. Most of them came from Germany and Prussia, settled in Vilnius and left a rich succession of followers. Their original work spread in all the Great Duchy of Lithuania and over its borders. Today the heritage of these masters is defined as a separate and significant school of Vilnius Late Baroque organ-building. The article provides historical, historiographical sources and the material of new scientific studies on organ masters who worked in Lithuania in the 18th and first half of the 19th c. Their biographies and the spread of their creations are presented. The masters’ origin and migration, their stay in Vilnius and relations to organ-builders from other counties is analysed. The originality of their heritage is analysed and characterized as an independent Vilnius organ-building school.
