Summary/Abstract: The process of professional development of musical art in Karelia has been studied in close connection with the socio-economicand political transformations of the 1930s. The importance of new communications for the development of art has been shown. Theprocess of establishment of the first music ensembles in Karelia and the role of migrants in their activity have been studied. Theauthor comes to a conclusion that the establishment of professional art required both creative tension of the elite and intensificationof spiritual strength of the whole regional comunity.
