Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the problem of maritime piracy in the Gulf of Aden using the technique of analytical monitoring for the period of 2010–2012. The work describes the current state of the problem of piracy off the coast of Somalia, discusses the actions of pirates and pirate groups as well as the Somali government, and characterizes the reactions of the international community to the cases of armed attacks and hijackings in the Gulf of Aden. It is concluded that at this stage the difficulty consists in the lack of coordination of the efforts of the international community towards the legal settlement of the piracy problem.
