Summary/Abstract: Gandjour contends that Sen’s capability approach has been widely discussed as a theoretical basis for making resource allocation decisions in health care. Benicourt shows that Sen’s presentation of utilitarianism is misleading. Clark maintains that Sen’s capability approach has emerged as the leading alternative to standard economic frameworks for thinking about poverty, inequality and human development generally. Frediani analyzes how Sen’s capability approach might contribute to an understanding of the strategies required for tackling urban poverty.
