Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the devoted to Russia collection of sketches «Empire» of the Polish reporter R. Kapushchinsky. The super concept «Empire» which the author associates with Russia in various forms became the basic in the work: Russian Empire, USSR, Russian Federation. Thoughts of the Polish intellectual about features of existence of this concept are shown rather boldly; the author makes an attempt to explain the reasons of such notions emergence.
