ABOUT THE NECESSITY OF AN ACADEMIC LANGUAGE DICTIONARY OF SERBIAN FOR GENERAL AND HIGHER EDUCATION PURPOSES

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to promote the concept of an educational dictionary for Serbian academic purposes, segmented in many different levels according to academic needs and educational degrees respectively. As support and argumentation for such academic glossaries, the authors present the results of their questionnaire analyses from October 2013, focusing on receptive and productive academic vocabulary knowledge among a representative sample of first-year philology students. The research aims to provide the necessary impulses for the implementation of the principles for academic vocabulary teaching and learning. The target group includes both high school and college students.
