Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the thesis that identity is not a monolithic and immobile structure, especially in the process of globalization, when identity appears as collective and individual, as a fluid structure that is often ideologically portrayed as monolithic and noncontradictory. It appears that this very fragmentation of the (ideologically understood) identity leads to a seemingly absurd situation in which identity is seen as collective (national, religious, political, etc.) and, as such, is considered endangered, even under the wing of liberal ideologies. In other words, the transformation of identity restores the collectivistic orientations thatare considered constitutive.
