Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the wide range of questions, connected with specificity of religious consciousness of Russian intelligentsia in the beginning of the 20th century. Russian religious consciousness reflects both western and eastern beginnings; Russian culture also incorporates rationalistic and Christian traditions. Revealed is the ambiguity of intellectuals' perception of progressive development ideals.
