Summary/Abstract: A young Ural company town (monotown) is analyzed according to the proposed working scheme in terms of the dynamics of its repute and importance (scale), as well as its resilience and prospects (temporal dimension). The contestation of the mountain Kachkanar by the main actors — the mining and processing plant, the Buddhist monastery and the ski resort — reveals the specific inertia of the “city of youth’s” Soviet connotations. The domination of the monotown semantic matrix in the context of the young town leads to the nondramatization effect.
