Summary/Abstract: The article shows various directions and forms of activities of the art intelligentsia of the Central Chernozem region aimed at the formation and relaying socio-cultural symbols of the Soviet era. The author attempts to prove that intelligentsia formed a new type of the Soviet personality that was capable of self-sacrifice for the sake of collective and state interests.
