Summary/Abstract: An attempt to analyze the opinions of Russian and foreign scholars reflected in various publications about the Russian intelligentsia of the 20th — the beginning of the 21st centuries is undertaken. The political and public importance of intelligentsia in the history of Russia, its features, destinies, changes connected to the transition of society to new parameters of the world space are revealed.
