Notes on the Toponymy of Banat

Summary/Abstract: In the present article, the author clarifies the etymology of several toponyms: Cacoț, Caransebeș, Cătenaș, Căpăt, Cărămida, Cerimoșnic, Chatar, Chișoda, Chizătău, Chizdia, Coreea, Costoń, Criva etc. These toponyms have already been the object of linguistic study, for the Dicționarul toponimic al Banatului [The Toponymic Dictionary of Banat], vol. II (C) & vol. III (D-E), by Viorica Goicu and Rodica Suflețel (Timișoara, Tipografia Universității din Timișoara, 1985, 1986), but their analyses, at that time, could not provide information of etymological nature.
