Summary/Abstract: Albanian musical folklore, an important part of the ethnic culture of a people, is ancient, rich and varied. It has preserved and developed many original values. Political, economic and cultural factors of all kinds have given rise, within the unity of Albanian populist music culture, to a wide variety of genres, styles and variants. These regional and local peculiarities convey the common features that illustrate Albanian unity. This musical folklore carried in its course, until recently still, the vestige of some practice of ritual magic. The twentieth century thus becomes the bearer of rich traditions and renewals, the source of which remains extremely active even today.
