Summary/Abstract: In the historiographical literary studies P. Zarishi has been considered as a minor author, catholic writer ofMirditë and Northern Albania, a religious poet, a part of a catholic periocL where other names like Ndue Bytyçi and Leonardo de Martinos were associated. His poetry remained unpublislied until late. Highly evaluated from his contemporaries, including here Dora dMstria and G. Schiro, the works of Pjetër Zarishi even nowadays are partly known. Some of his poetic creations were later published in the Shkodra Magazine The Star of the Light (Hylli i Dritës), but many others remain unpublished. In the 1930s, it was revealed that there were many other poetry and linguistic manuscripts, but unfortunately alinost all of them are lost, besides a manuscript with verses, guarded in the house of the chieftains of Orosh. The poem The Creation of the Universe has once been called a cosmogonic, and then a theosophical work. Together with Nicolo Chetta, he is one of the promoters of the chime. The Creation of the Universe, in its present state. includes 13 chimes, it is very likely that the manuscript might have had !4. a nice nurnber that corresponds the 14 generations of the source of Christianity. The motivefor the creation ofthe iiniverse has joined lots of poets, and this certainly is related with the first Bible, as Northrop Frye calls it The Great Code: Bible and Lilerature, exactly with the book of the Origin of Creation. The name of Pjetër Zarishi and his work takes great importance because of its biblical pre-text, it relates the Arberesh literature with that oi'the old land from one side, and the old humanist literature with the one that was being devcloped in the 19th century, as the closest literature to the people's language. T his is the reason why it has often been specified as the linking bridge from one literary period to the other, the first poet of the new Albanian Literalure. predecessor ofthe Renaissance.
