Aspects of cyberbullying. Student safety strategies

Summary/Abstract: As increasing numbers of youth embrace computer-mediated communication to meet social needs, interpersonal violence directly and indirectly related to the Internet is growing in scope and prevalence. The devastating impact of cyberbullying has revealed that this phenomenon is a dominant public health problem. Cyberbullying in particular has shot to the forefront of agendas in schools and communities due to the emotional, psychological, and even physical harm to which victims can be subjected. This study will present information on the prevalence of cyberbullying as well as strategies that schools can use to protect students. School personnel and parents need guidance for comprehensively and thoroughly dealing with such an unacceptable behavior as cyberbullying.
