Summary/Abstract: Stereotypes are an interdisciplinary social problem (psychological, sociological, historical and political), as well as a cultural (ethnographic, literary and linguistic) issue. The paper presents Polish-Czech and Czech-Polish stereotypes as a historical, cultural and psycho-sociological phenomenon and demonstrates the mutual perception of the respective language by the „Slavic neighbours and brothers“. It discusses the theoretical conceptualization of false friends in their correlation with language stereotypes.
