Summary/Abstract: Edmund Jankowski (1912-1991) devoted all his life to studies of Eliza Orzeszkowa's life and work. He took care of the writer's archive, he worked out a nine-volume edition of her letters as well as other writings providing it with broad and detailed commentaries. He made available unknown, preserved in manuscripts, texts by the author, or their fragments. He is the author of a comprehensive, based on sources, biography of Eliza Orzeszkowa, which was edited several times.
