Summary/Abstract: Studying the history of institutions, which are shaped in the form of archival funds inside archives is extremely important professional and scientific archival issue. Former Bosnian-Herzegovinian archival practice in this field is inadequate and should be changed. Instead of ad-hoc approach in which each archivist is dealing with isolated issues in study of archival history fund this process should be organized to introduce the practice of studying the history of specific provenance of archival funds (field work), and thus shape the professional and scientific framework of knowledge that will every archivist in every case be able to use. This is the way to regulate these important jobs as it allows proper planning of the funds (by priority) so that improvisations and errors are removed. A good example can be found in Republic of Croatia of where the magazine "Archival herald" has a special chapter of "History of Institutions", and the Department of Informations science of Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb includes Archival science as a separate subject. This example is very informative and should be followed.
