Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the absurdist tendencies of the interpretation of Anton Chekhov’ plays and is based on the production of Rimas Tuminas’ “Cherry orchard” (1990) in which the director combines strategies of psychological and theatre-as-the-game strategies and concretizes some features of Chekhov’s attitude of mind and creation, connecting him with the absurd theatre.
