Summary/Abstract: The Yambol Inscription has been long known, nevertheless its complete and precise publication belongs to Ivan Gulubov. We adopt his reading on the whole, still we have some notes concerning his interpretation of the text. We believe that in this case the word „стльпь" stands for „tower". This is supported by numerous examples of a similar kind, coming from the same century. The inscription is exactly dated to 1356–1357. Dubilin (Yambol) was among the towns first suffering the Turkish invasion. According to our supposition, at that time the fortress was additionally fortifield. Probably that was accomplished by erecting a new tower (стльпь) in front of the main gates. The building works were undertaken according to the order of Mr Shishman, nephew of Tsar Ivan Alexander and governor of the region.
