Summary/Abstract: Many researches and academic publications try to show the impact of business cycle on mergers and acquisitions transactions, which show some kind of regularity. This publication is an introduction to the analysis of the impact of business cycles on mergers and acquisitions market. It presents the correlation between factors characterizing the business cycle and the level of company’s activity on mergers and acquisitions market particularly in Poland and Europe. In order to present researched subject, in the first part of this publication the historical review of mergers and acquisitions was presented, especially included in the bibliography their waves. Afterwards the subject of business cycles was described, showing the assumptions that will be used to compare and identify their connections with mergers and acquisitions market. Furthermore the dynamics of mergers and acquisitions was shown in order to draw attention to business cycle of merger and acquisition transactions. In the summary it was indicated the need to research the impact of GDP fluctuations, called business cycles, on determinants of mergers and acquisitions success.
