Summary/Abstract: In the law of criminal evidence, a confession is a free and voluntary admission of guilt by an accused person. In the Middle Ages it was considered to be the absolute proof. Today the confession has lost some of its probative value and it must be considered in collaboration with other evidence of the record. The confession is not a sufficient proof to convict a person since there are chances that it can be untrue due to the state of mind of accused or may be influenced by force or under threat.
