Summary/Abstract: As known, Latvian is highly inflective language with rather free word order. In general, the unmarked (i. e. most common) order of elements in a sentence is SVO, however OVS, SOV, OSV are possible and grammatically correct.Data from the Latvian Valency Lexicon was used to analyze word order models in Latvian. The paper first analyzes SVO and other models; as well as the differences from SVO sentences found in OVS, SOV and OSV were analyzed. In the second part of the article the sentences of the Latvian Speech Recognition corpus were analyzed. In the selected examples with the changed word order the importance of prosodic features was analyzed.
