Summary/Abstract: Our paper is based on analysis of Fănuș Neagu`s novel ŗFrumoșii nebuni ai marilor orașeŗ and speaks about two literary motives: Ŗlife as a dreamŗ and Ŗworld as a theatreŗ, encountered throughout the history of literature, particularly in the Baroque period of Spanish Golden Century and Renaissance. Postmodern writers have been adopted these two literary motives all over the world, they are met also in Romanian literature, especially in Fănuș Neagu`s short stories and novels. It is important for readers to know that by discovering the significance of these motives they will understand better the story of this novel.
