GHEORGHE APETROAE’S POEMS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE CONNOTATIONS SPECIFIC TO CULTURAL IMAGOLOGY

Summary/Abstract: The paper entitled ˮThe Poetry of Gheorghe Apetroae Approached in Terms of the Connotations Specific to Cultural Imagologyˮ dwells upon the mental images related to the concept of cultural imagology which are central both to reason and to the literal. Our methodology based on image studies which stand for national and cultural stereotypes brings into bold relief those national characteristics such as sensibility, intelligence and courage and shows how the poet turns into good account the Romanians as a collectivity that lives and regenerates through each and every individual. In order to help us identify the Romanian national characteristics, the poet resorts to the philosophy of detail associating ˮthe language and the country, the sea and the skyˮ which represent an emanation of the involuntary national memory and which certify the heroism and spirituality of the Romanian people.
