E. LOVINESCU′S FIRST POLEMICS

Summary/Abstract: Our paper intends to provide an analysis of the main co-ordinates that define E. Lovinescu′s first polemics in Romanian literary journalistic work of the first decade of the 20th century. E. Lovinescu showed interest in the part concerning the significance of aesthetics of Sămănătorism, recognizing that it was not only an aesthetic phenomenon, but also a cultural and social one. We are focusing especially on the ones texts reference published in ŖEpocaŗ magazine. The beginnings of E. Lovinescu′s critical activity coincide with those of his polemics. Thus, the contribution to ŖEpocaŗ between 1904-1906 also gives him the opportunity to publish some combative articles, in a virulent tone entering into polemics with the ŖSămănătorulŗ magazine, headed by N. Iorga - dominating personality of the century and initiator of Sămănătorism movement în the Roumanian culture. Those articles are compiled in 1906, in the two-volumes Pași pe nisip. We proceed with presenting a series of journalistic contemporary Romanian critical reactions according to his publicistic and social activity from this period.
