Summary/Abstract: The Usage of Double Definiteness in Old Norwegian. This article aims to present a survey of the scope and ways of usage of double definiteness in Old Norwegian. Double definiteness is defined in this study as a common noun in the definite form + a demonstrative determiner. The usage of definite forms to express definiteness was grammatically optional in Old Norwegian, and it is therefore of interest to look for the motivation of their usage patterns. The main findings of the study are that the total scope of double definiteness was very small and that the distribution between the analysed texts are highly uneven.
