Analyzing the Benefits of Cloud Computing In the Context of C41 Systems

Summary/Abstract: Command Control Computer Communication and Intelligence (C4I) are complex information systems, these system enable the commanding authority to make better decision through situational assessment, information fusion, correlation and reporting. However, C4I systems are challenging in term of complexity, performance, interoperability, resource optimization and communication. Cloud computing model offers some great benefits like resource pooling and sharing, multi tenancy, flexibility, scalability, storage and processing of large amount of data. These benefits make cloud computing a great candidate for C4I systems; in this paper we analyze the opportunities provided by Cloud computing to address the C4I systems issues and challenges. The resulting work will help the readers to understand the current C4I issues, how to address these issues through cloud based architecture, what are the challenges and design issues.
