Summary/Abstract: Grid computing presents a new paradigm for building distributed systems and performing distributed and parallel computations. Grid technologies facilitate the connecting and sharing of a potentially unlimited number of heterogeneous computational resources, which are geographically distributed and belong to different administrative domains. Although grid computing is a comparatively new area in distributed computing, there already exist different types of grid systems. In this paper we make an overview of existing grid systems and present taxonomy for their classification.
