Summary/Abstract: In this essay the author presents Flumine nectareo from the collection Appendix carminum by Venantius Fortunatus as an example of a poem meant to be a gift of friendship to someone close to the poet. This particular poem is addressed to Agnes, the abbess of the convent at Poitiers founded by Radegunde of Thuringia in 557 A.D. A Polish translation of the poem forms an integral part of the essay.
