ENEOLITHIC ZOOMORPHIC REPRESENTATIONS FROM NATIONAL MUSEAL COMPLEX ‘CURTEA DOMNEASCĂ’ TÂRGOVIŞTE COLLECTIONS

Summary/Abstract: The archaeological collection at the Târgovişte National Museum Complex includes several Chalcolithic zoomorphic figurines and vessels found during excavations or field research between 1930 and 1960. They were found mainly at the Gumelniţa site of Geangoeşti, as well as at Ioneşti - Palade and Corbii Mari, Dâmboviţa County, and most of them are unpublished. Artifact analyses are focused not only on the metric, contextual and inventory data, but also on fabric and typology. Several of the figurines are considered unique in the Gumelniţa culture area. Their shapes are discussed according to existing typologies. Some of interpretative theses for this class of artifacts are take into account.
