Summary/Abstract: The focus of the present paper lies on the man-space relationship, while also involving the dimension of travelling. The latter presupposes a transformation obtained by means of various processes among which are dislocation and accomodation. Our attention is directed especially towards the impossibility of travelling, thus the two aspects mentioned above (i.e. dislocation and accomodation) become traumatizing. Moreover, the journey in itself is seen as an anomaly, as a disease, as it is the case with novels such as Domnul K eliberat by Matei Visniec, and The Woman in the Dunes by Kobo Abe. Claustration is symbolized not only by lack of movement, but also by excess of movement (running). Therefore, there is only an illusion of freedom, as we can observe in the novel The Book of Flights: An Adventure Story by J.M.G. Le Clézio. In this context, the space in itself becomes the central element, being the one that receives the convenience for movement/travelling and confining, at the same time, the character within its borders.
