Summary/Abstract: Residual, in its quality of ejection, of material that remains, it means a lack of utiliy, a lack of avail. In the same time, its presence implies a process of contamination. These two characteristics are fundamental and, as a consequence, are the conditions for the material to become residual. Transfered into the symbolic area, these two characteristics represent the tools through which the limits of the residual are identified. One of these limits is verified in this paper, hence it is probed if the human can be a symbolic form of the residual. The study presents two scenarios, one belonging to Jean Baudrillard and the other to Adorno. According to Adorno, human became a being without purpose in his existence, a presence without utility, without content. Having as a starting point the critique of the capitalism, the two authors identifie a viced reality, the human being its victim. Whether the flux of information is impossible to manage or the ritm of capitalism is inhuman, the man becomes the target of alienation. Thus, it is accomplished the scenario of a man who no longer has a purpose, who is viced and capable to vice as well.
