Summary/Abstract: The contribution examines a question of justification of human rights in the contemporary times. For a variety of different approaches it focuses on fundationalism represented by Alan Gewirth and theories that are constructed on the concept of practical consensus (Jacques Maritain and John Rawls). The author critically compares these approaches and tries to point to their advantages and disadvantages.
