Academic Entrepreneurship and the concept of the spin-off company

Summary/Abstract: This publication aims to describe the genesis of the concept of academic entrepreneurship, its types, sources and ways of financing that kind of activity. The presentation of development of a new kind of entrepreneurship was based on the available literature. The different approaches and trends indicated by the authors were also taken into account. This relatively young sector has got a chance of getting more and more popular and its development will undoubtedly influence in a positive way the functioning of the market economy.
