Bancassurance, a new phenomenon in modern banking

Summary/Abstract: The objective of the article is to present the phenomenon of combining banking services and insurance activity within the framework of bancassurance, as an important aspect of functioning of the modern banking sector, resulting from the transformations, occurring in the financial markets. In the first part, text describes the origins and factors influencing the development of banking and insurance cooperation, as well as presents the applied forms of connections. Within the framework of the article, there is also an analysis of basic benefits and threats, connected with bancassurance activity. The last part contains the potential opportunities for development of this type of actions, together with the new challenges for bancassurance alliances, emerging on the constantly developing market for financial services.
