Summary/Abstract: In the first part of the article the author briefly presents Stirner’s conception of freedom. Only the most important parts of his main work Der Einzige und sein Eigentum (The Ego and Its Own) are described. In the second part of the article the author concentrates on objections on Stirner’s conception of freedom. Firstly, general arguments are presented, and secondly, the arguments expressed by Karl Löwith and Albert Camus. Also, the philosophical doctrine assigned to Stirner (solipsism and nihilism) is emphasised. The aim of the article is to present different points of view and thus, to show that there is still controversy over Stirner’s conception of freedom.
