Summary/Abstract: This article aims to analyze a prose poem by Nina Bouraoui, a contemporary French writer. Starting from the classical representation of Death as a terrifying feminine figure, the narrator tries to exorcize her own fear of death in an impressive stylistic exercise. In a radical metamorphosis, she imagines that she becomes a servant of death and that she imitates it, even acquiring demonic accents. I consider the text to be a kind of récit poétique as interpreted by Jean-Yves Tadié. After having emphasized the baroque character of descriptions, I conclude that the end of the book is a failure, probably because the mystery of death may seem impenetrable to people when they do not embrace with a dogma that advances a clear theory on the phenomenon on death.
