Summary/Abstract: A miraculous Tarnovo icon, not being published yet, and of the 'Virgin Vlahernitissa' type from the Bachkovo monastery reveals quite a rare iconographic detail – a scroll tied to the arm of Jesus, as it is with small children when they don't want to loose it. The nuance of flesh modelling with bright ochre having no colour shades takes us back to the Paleologic art of the epoc of tzar Ivan Alexander (e. g. the icon 'St. Archangels' with the Vlaherna Miracle from Bachkovo). Patriarch Euthymius who had visited Constantinople during the 60ies, wrote about the worshiping of the Virgin Vlahernitissa from the life of St. Petka. Silver coin issues by Ivan Shishman prove the spread of the cult before the fall of Tarnovo.
