Cloud computing vs. knowledge management – challenges, opportunities and threats

Summary/Abstract: With increasing globalization, business models are changing and thus the need of innovative knowledge management grows. This is facilitated by the development of information and communication technologies, which are the basis of many innovative solutions also in the field of knowledge management. This article focuses on the current trend in the area of IT management associated with the emergence and greater use of cloud computing. The paper tries to identify and assess the impact of cloud computing on the key areas of knowledge management. The author depicts the challenges that face organizations that want to improve their competitiveness, and points both possible positive consequences of the implementation of cloud solutions, and threats/risks of using cloud in the context of knowledge management.
