Summary/Abstract: The financial crisis continues to have negative impact on both advanced and developing economies precluding the State to full fill the positive obligations assumed in order to protect human rights. The article aims to discuss the main arguments used in the discourse of current austerity policies taking into account the particular situation facing Europe: strong financial crisis and an aging population, drafting an interdisciplinary approach.
