Summary/Abstract: The article demonstrates the results of the first stage of the work of the author, employed as Highly Qualified Personnel, as part of the “Region Open to Innovations” Project financed by the European Union. The aim of the EU-financed project has been to develop the operational controlling designing and implementation methodology addressed to smalland medium-sized consulting and training services enterprises. The first stage of the project work covered diagnosing the operational controlling information needs in the consulting and training services enterprise. The study applied the following methods: case study, analysis of documentation, free-form interview and Ms Excel prototyping. The information needs diagnosed for the consulting and training services enterprise include a multidimensional analyses of the structure of revenues and profitability as well as cash flow planning and ongoing cash-flow monitoring and a possibility of project profitability evaluation in terms of contribution margin, factoring in the direct costs of the project. The paper also provides an outline of the concept of the operational controlling system dedicated to the consulting and training.
