Summary/Abstract: With the arrival of the communicative approach in foreign language class, the notion of interaction neglected in the traditional teaching methods has become an important concept and has been included in language classes and also in textbooks designed for language teaching. Thus, with classroom interaction, not only language skills but also socials skills become essential. When interaction is mentioned, student-student and student-teacher conversations and information exchanges come to the mind. One of the teaching approaches providing interactive opportunities for students of foreign language is cooperative learning. Cooperative learning can be defined as strategies for enhancing the value of student-student interaction. In this study, the importance of student-student interactions in the foreign language class and its place in cooperative learning method will be discussed. In addition, we will give a sample reading comprehension lesson plan in French foreign language class prepared using the Jigsaw-II technique of cooperative learning.
