Summary/Abstract: Volunteering is actual phenomenon, required to be explored to secure and reinforce its qualitative and quantitave growth. The main question was, what gives basis to the voluntary work. The main objective of the article has been to search deeper about theoretical background of one aspect, altruism, describing and analyzing the motivation incentives, especially those which are associated with mercenariness and selflessness. Theory has been based on different theoretical constructs to show diversity of ideas regarding this issue.
