Summary/Abstract: Business entities operating in unstable environment apply new approaches to increase their competitiveness. However, such attempts are combined with increased education, awareness as well as aspirations of society. In order to maximize the profit, companies have to be at the same time socially responsible that means they have to take other aspects than economic into account, including: minimizing pollution of the environment, counteracting any abuses and considering the society’s interest. The crucial issue in socially responsible companies is taking care of working conditions, organization climate, especially allowing for employee development. It is worth implementing socially responsible practices as a company wins at the same time social acceptance as well as loyal and competent personnel identifying with the company objectives. Active steps taken by the company management in the said field show they respect employees’ dignity and respond in a positive manner to their higher needs and facilitate the economic development of a given company. Therefore, it is of vital importance that Polish companies respond actively to their employees’ expectations, and then by implementing development strategies they will be beneficial both economically and socially.
