Summary/Abstract: Described experiments indicate a change in self-knowledge, which appears as a result of public behavior in a person’s auto-presentations. The subjects impersonated different roles of people, both positive and negative: fair, tenacious, energetic, independently- minded, resourceful versus aggressive, unjust, surrendering or non-energetic. Test results confirmed the hypothesis of adaptation changes in self-knowledge of actors in the direction consistent with auto-presentation. This effect was visible when the displayed role was positive and it was not related to the sex of the subjects studied. Thereby, the gained knowledge shows that the effects of public appearance may become elements of a change in self-knowledge, according to the content of positive auto-presentation. Thus, they may contribute to the growth of personal resources which enhance person’s professional potential.
