Summary/Abstract: The goal of the article is to present the town planning study discovered in the archives of the Bialystok Town Hall called Skizze zur Regulierung und Aufbau abgebrannten Teile der Stadt Bialystok and describe the circumstances in which it was written. It was ready on 9 July 1941, thirteen days after the tragic developments connected with the capture of Białystok by the Germans on Friday, 27 June 1941. The plan, which prepared in circumstances which remain mostly unknown, contains a stock-taking of thee destruction caused in the first days of the German occupation in addition to the plan for a regulation and the construction of a new district of Białystok. That destruction focused on two areas in the centre of the town that had a large Jewish community. In addition, the plan presents proposals for the redevelopment of the remaining parts of Białystok that had a large Jewish presence. The article presents planning materials and photographs from the late June/early July of 1941 as well as post-war photographs documenting isolated clusters of buildings that survived until the redevelopment of central Białystok in the 1960s and 1970s.
